Academy Awards: Hollywood fashion
Hollywood has always been extremely fashion conscious, but in recent years it has grown into obsession. World known celebrities are making great fuss of what to put on, while strict fashionistas critically examine the ensembles of Hollywood stars.
The Oscars today is a sort of fashion show with world-known actors modeling. The main events of Hollywood not only bring stunning funds to fashion designers, but affect consume fashion as well imposing their swanky trends on common public.
This year severe fashion experts didn’t lose an opportunity to criticize our idols and their posh outfits. Some of Hollywood stars were lucky to get approving notes, while others were ridiculed cruelly.
Reese Witherspoon, apart from being the Best Actress winner, is the Oscars Best Dressed actress, according to an authoritative opinion of Luxist.com, an expert on all pretentious things. She won the Academy Award for the Best Actress for the role of June Carter in Walk the Line, and was named first in the list of the Best Dressed of Luxist.com for her elegant vintage 1955 Dior accompanied by Manolo Blahnik heels.
Another favorite of Luxist.com was Ziyi Zhang and her dazzling costume (Armani bustier and Swarovski crystal-covered skirt). I liked her ensemble most – sparkling, but elegant and refined at the same time.
Luxist.com also includes in the list Jessica Alba (in Versace gown) and Jennifer Garner (in Michael Kors gown), who chose a golden color, which seems very popular this season (see Hussein Chalayan, Sophia Kokosalaki and Dries van Noten in last week Paris shows).
The Worst Dressed list includes Jennifer Lopez and her vintage gown from Rita Watnick in a yellow shade of olive and Michel Williams in her awfully yellow Vera Wang gown. Both the color and the cut choice were wrong, they could certainly have looked better.
Red carpet style reigned at the Oscars this year. Keira Knightley, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Aniston, Naomi Watts, Charlize Theron were wearing gorgeous gowns accompanied with expensive jewelry. Although some of them got a little criticism, their chic elegance reminded of the early days of Hollywood glamour and class.
