Lingerie stores: Saudi women will sell lingerie
Womens emancipation expands to Saudi Arabia. In the coming months women will be permitted to work in lingerie stores, which can be treated as a revolution for the Kingdom.
Women are getting more rights in Saudi Arabia. Until recently only men have been allowed to run retail business.
It’s OK when male assistants deal with electronic devices or ready-made clothes, but the situation gets difficult when it comes to selling women’s underwear or cosmetics. But soon women won’t feel embarrassed when purchasing for panties, bras and other intimate items.
According to a new decree, male assistants will be replaced by females in lingerie stores of Saudi Arabia. That’s an important step on the way to liberalization.
Women will be definitely pleased with the change, as it makes the whole process of buying intimate garments easier and less embarrassing. As far as the owners of lingerie stores are concerned, they are not quite satisfied with the imposed innovation. They believe that it may cause the decline in sales of products since, as they claim, the majority of the customers for women’s undergarments are men.
On the whole, many Saudi Arabians are worried about some recent changes taken place in the Kingdom, some believe that they go too far and that some changes are “not compatible with Islam.” But King Abdallah remains the stimulus to liberalization of Saudi society and he is even hinted at lifting the prohibition on women driving.
