Mastectomy lingerie
The number of women diagnosed with breast cancer is extremely high today and this rate keeps on rising every year. Women who went through breast surgery need a prosthesis and special underwear with a pocket for it sewn inside, and it can be a problem.
Some women find it difficult to choose a bra that will fit properly and look beautiful. Many of them feel uncertain about the way the look and don’t believe that they can wear lingerie as pretty as they wore before surgery. But today the choice of mastectomy underwear is extremely wide. Lingerie manufacturers design bras and other items of different styles including low or high necklines, wide or thin straps, etc.
Specialized stores have all necessary stuff to help women to feel self confident about the way they look. In addition to mastectomy bras they offer prosthetics, special clothing, and accessories women need after breast surgery. At Oops and Downes you will find such products available as breast forms, equalizer forms, mastectomy bras, camisoles, swimwear, hats, wigs, turbans, and compression therapy products.
Another problem that can face women is finding a proper swimsuit. I know women who have not dared to go to the swimming pool or step on the beach since they have had a breast removed. But today mastectomy swimsuits don’t differ from ordinary ones. They come in a variety of styles and modern technologies make them comfy and durable.
Some women are concerned about the weight of the prosthesis – they are afraid that it may be too heavy for a swimsuit. Though, modern bathing suits are very reliable; they are made of stitching and proper fabrics to ensure not only comfort but also piece of mind during the most vigorous of activities. Besides today there are extremely light forms available, and there are also forms with a strip of reinforced silicone specially designed for active ladies.
Another myth about mastectomy swimwear is that breast forms can be destroyed by chlorine in the swimming pool. Fortunately, most modern prostheses are resistant to chlorine and heat, so you don’t have to deprive yourselves of your favorite activity.
