Electronic underwear. Have you heard about it?
Have you ever heard about underwear that monitors vitals signs?
Just imagine! German researchers, who have developed the technology, say this signs may save lives by calling the emergency services when help is needed.
The bra or underpants have sensors woven into them that monitor the heartbeat of people with existing heart conditions. A microprocessor unit analyses the signals to look for signs of dangerous heart rhythms.
If it detects trouble it automatically calls for medical assistance…
This underwear has been developed by the Philips Research facility in Aachen. It is part of a program called Ambient Intelligence, in which the electronics of devices disappear, literally, into the fabric of their surroundings.
They say that by controlling the use of electrically conducting and insulating fibres, fabric can be designed both sense physiological signals and transmit them to the electronic control unit.
