Minimalism in clothing habits today takes its extreme form, which verges on exhibitionism. The desire of modern society to expose oneself is nothing but a cultural fever, which has its signs and consequences. What is significant this fever concerns women and men equally.

So what are the signs of cloth minimalist fever:

1. We start with traditional THONGS, which is ‘classics’ of modern minimalist style. Even our grannies have already got used to these small lingerie pieces. There is a dozen of thongs styles available in every local lingerie store, which boggle the mind of an average customer with their ribbons, laces and ruffs.

- traditional thongs
- G-string
- V-string
- Dance belt

2. MALE THONGS are a topic in its own right. Despite an existing opinion that this underwear is for girls only, statistics says that it becomes more common among men as well. And if we remember that g-strings originally were the only garment of Japanese fundoshi 2000 years ago, we won’t be surprised by this fact (Read more in Thongs: 10 curious facts).

Although, the number of women wearing thongs is great deal outnumbers the men, the first step has been made. Men’s thongs are not associated with strip dancers and gays any longs.

3. You have always thought that it is impossible to create something more revealing than g-strings, look at the C-STRING (and it is not a computer term, it is lingerie)! It is a g-string, but without the band around the waist! It is held in place firmly by a flexible internal frame and in some cases also silicone lines at the both ends.

C-strings were created to eliminate any possibility of panty lines. But I wouldn’t be surprised if in the near future we’ll see them on the beach, as they can also minimizes tan lines.

4. Now let’s speak about swimwear. A good example of minimalist fever is a MICROKINI. It is a traditional bikini, but 20 times smaller. It looks like a bikini for a Barbie, so tiny it is! But if you know the history of this provocative swimwear, you would understand why it is so small and revealing.

Originally it was designed to cover as minimum skin as possible, just to comply with the laws banning nudity in public places. First microkinis were homemade swimsuits sewn by Venice Beach regulars in ‘70s who were banned to stay nude.

5. One more provocative bikini style is a SLING BIKINI, or SUSPENDER BIKINI. It is an extremely revealing and sexually provoking style of swimwear. It looks like big thongs, because its side straps are supposed to come up to cover breasts. Although this style won’t reduce tan lines, but it is sure to attract men’s attention to you on the beach. 

6. STRAPLESS BIKINI or a C-STRING bikini is the choice of daring girls who do not want any tan lines! Extremely explicit and revealing!
