Concept of Greekstyle Lingerie

What do we call Greekstyle lingerie? It is lingerie that is made of light and airy cloth, usually colored in all shades of summer and the sea: cream, show-white, sky- and cobalt blue, rosy and yellow. It can be as well trimmed with posh lace, transparent tulle or silk.
Ancient Greeks believed that the human body is the standard of beauty and perfection. In their opinion any of its parts meets certain requirements: everything is proportional and symmetrical, and has the appropriate function. And the clothes were made according to the same principles.
Greek clothing was of a high aesthetic level, it showed proportions and harmony in the lines, and was absolutely symmetrical. It is striking that the Greeks managed to create perfect works of art out of two rectangular pieces of cloth, the works of art that could be worn by both men and women.
Women’s dresses stressed natural body lines. The secret lay in the fact that two notions were combined to create a single whole: elegance and variety of Ionian fashion and simplicity and strictness of Dorian style. The most important in clothes making was the way of the material draping, as it is individual for every woman and underlines her taste.
The 19th century saw the revival of interest in Greek culture and a famous fashion designer Pole Puree did much to bring Greekstyle lingerie and clothes back to life. Present-day trendsetters also pay attention to this antique style. Meanwhile, transparent airy items of clothing are coming nowadays into fashion.
