NikeWomen: Maria Sharapova brings a corset on the tennis court

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

The previous match Maria Sharapova played in a corset, which is not a typical outfit for tennis players. Actually, she was the first to appear on a court in a corset.

Nike fitness dance collection has always appealed to the tennis star, because as she said she “loves dance and art”. The giant sportswear manufacturer noticed the interest of the athlete to this collection and decided to incorporate some pieces of their fitness dance line into a tennis outfit. They adapted for Maria Sharapova a pearl and black corset and a black skirt for her playing in Miami.

When manufacturing the unique sportswear, Nike designers used the high-tech materials and innovative designs taking into consideration Miami’s heat and the demands of the champion for her outfit.

The Nike Speed Corset features a state-of-the-art ventilation system in the front and back, which provides breathability and keeps the body cool, which is especially important in Miami. The Nike Shimmer Mix Skirt is made of moisture-wicking Dri-FIT fabric, which helps sustain body temperature. This technology draws sweat away from the skin and moves it to the outside of the fabric, where it quickly evaporates.

Maria Sharapova liked her new outfit so much, that she promises to wear it on her next match. She admitted that the new outfit is not only cute, but also extremely comfortable thanks to the vents that keep the body cool. Although the corset was tugged down last time, it’s going to be fixed by the next play.

Nike fitness dance collection created a special look for the famous tennis player. It offers bold style and at the same time provides the performance features critical for the heat and elite level of play in Miami.

I would say that Maria’s new style will definitely promote the corset on the court and Nike collection on the market.

Jessica Alba is currently involved in litigation with famous Playboy magazine. The actress accused of putting her image on its cover without permission. Besides, Playboy hinted that there might be some nude pictures in the issue, what, as Alba thinks, has damaged her career and reputation.

The cover girl claims that Playboy asked her to model in the magazine for a good pay, but she rejected the offer. So, in March issue they used the picture, which was taken in a promotional photo shoot for the film Into the Blue (2005).

Jessica Alba had previously posed in a bikini for a number of men’s magazines, what helps to promote her acting career. Her image was also used in the computer and video game Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Jessica Alba joined the army of young film stars whose scantily-clad images appeared on the cover of Playboy. The magazine already has in its collection the images of such legendary women as Marilyn Monroe (1953), Charlize Theron (1999), Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell (1999), and many more.

Playboy team doesn’t understand why Alba got so angry with them. It is one of the world’s best known and best read entertainment magazines, it’s printed all over the world and some countries have special nation-specific versions. So, one hardly can think of a better promotion than to appear on the cover of a worldwide magazine.

Tom Ford: the new signiture store

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Tom Ford, an American fashion designer, who used to be the creative director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent labels, confirmed intention to open a signature store in New York.

Rodeo Drive

The three-storied, 10 000 square-foot boutique, which will be packed with Ford’s ready-to-wear and made-to-measure clothing for men only, is planned to be open in November, 2006. The store will also display footwear, eyewear, accessories, fragrance and beauty line.

That will be Ford’s first clothing collection since his leaving the fashion house of Gucci. Reportedly it’s going to be ‘an old fashion haberdashery’ for those who don’t want to look too much of a fashion victim. The former creative director of Gucci will leave women in the cold, as he plans to design only for men in the nearest future.

The collection will be available solely in his store, which is to be placed on Madison Avenue (a perfect location for posh customers with the demands for the high quality). The famous clothing designer intends to expand worldwide within the next four years by opening his significant stores in London, Milan, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

Mr. Ford’s comeback into the fashion industry was preceded by the debut of his signature fragrance and beauty collection and an eyewear brand in 2005, which were the result of his collaboration with Esteé Lauder and Marcolin Group. Today Mr. Ford deals with the Italian brand, Ermenegildo Zegna as well.

The American designer shows no intention to drop out of his interest in film directing after the launch of the boutique. In fact, Ford’s desire to make movies was an alleged cause of his legendary turnaround of the two most influential fashion houses in the world, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Now Tom Ford has a chance to prove his talent as an independent designer.
