Micro Bikinis

Milavitsa swimwearToday the bikini is the most popular type of women’s bathing suit. Thousands of women wear different styles of this ultra modern beachwear, but most of them have no idea where its name comes from.

The word bikini comes from the Latin bi, meaning “two,” and kini, meaning “square inches of Lycra”. The two-piece swimsuit was designed by Louis Reard (ray-YARD) in 1946 and was named after the explosion near small islands in the Pacific known as the “Bikini Atoll”. The bikini soon acquired a reputation as a tongue-in-cheek “explosive” garment and had a roaring success. The first movie star appearing in a bikini in the media was Brigitte Bardot -  in And God Created Woman she frolics in a provocative sun wear driving men mad.

Today the bikini is worn by the hottest Hollywood divas, representing a pop-culture sex symbol. Modern ladies have no qualms about exposing their bodies and the conservative bikini of the ‘60s was replaced by a number of very revealing styles.

Actually, the bikini is a two-piece swimsuit that looks like women’s underwear made of special fabrics. That’s why there are as many types of the bikini as of underwear. First of all, there are different designs of a bikini bottom. It can range from the very revealing as thongs or g-strings to more modest as briefs and square-cut shorts. Bikini tops can also be of various styles, for instance there halter necks and push-ups, full cups and minimizers, padded and unpadded tops. So, the main types of the bikini are the following:

  1.  Tankini. It is a type of the bikini, which consists of a tank top and any type of a bikini bottom.
  2.  String bikini. It is a reduced type of a traditional bikini that includes three small triangles connected by string. It is the sexiest bikini style that is the result of the modern trend towards reduction which still continuous and promises more sizzling designs.
  3. In recent years, some women prefer topless bathing. They wear only the lower part of a bikini and call this swimwear a monokini. Sometimes a monokini with a sun hat is jokingly called a bikini, as an outfit consisting of two pieces.

These are only the most popular types of the bikini worn today, but swimwear manufacturers keep on inventing new designs and modern tiny beachwear is getting even tinier every day.

Swimsuits. How to Choose the Best?

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Swimsuits. How to Choose the Best?Swimsuit season has come! No matter what size a women is, she always panics over picking out a swimsuit and worries that it fits her figure well. It goes without saying that every woman wants to accent her best features and minimize her weak spots in any clothing.

Swimsuits are so revealing! There is very little margin for error when trying to choose the right one. All women want a swimsuit that looks good on them, but at the same time comfort is  important.

Now some tips and hints you can follow that will happen you to make your swimsuit shopping much less stressful:
Let`s begin… Large Busts Woman with large busts should find a swimsuit that fully supports them. The best swimsuits for that are ones with halter-tops or molded under wire cups to keep everything in place.
Women with an inverted shape (their top is wider than their hips), are adviced to choose a two-piece with a skirt or shorts. This will help balance their top and bottom, making them look better.
A woman with a large rear end should look for swimsuits with boy cut bottoms. This, of course, will help to hide your rear but at the same time looks cute and is comfortable. The skirted bikini bottoms are also cute… They give a hint of your legs and hide your rear end. Avoid the skimpy bikini briefs at all costs! Remember to avoid horizontal stripes! They will make your rear look even larger than it actually is. Diagonal stripes create a more flattering illusion.
Curvy women should consider the tankini. The tankini is a two-piece swimsuit with a top that resembles a tank top. These cool looking bottoms provide far more support for your curves than the traditional bikini bottoms. You may also want to try on one of the one piece swimsuits with cutouts on the sides. This can have a slimming effect…

As for large women, they probably have the hardest time picking out a swimsuit. You are probably self-conscious enough when choosing regular clothes if you are overweight. But do everything not to let this discourage you from enjoying some fun in the sun. Stick to dark colors like navy blue and black to help make you look slimmer.
